"My favorite topics to teach are Biology and Calculus. I love to teach evolution because it ties the entire study of Biology together and helps the students to understand why organisms look and act like they do. In Calculus, I love to teach about solids of revolution because of the 'wow' factor I see in my students.

I like teaching Lake Ridge students because they are motivated to learn. If they don't understand something, I can trust them to ask questions. I love questions! I believe it is also important for faculty to continue to ask questions and show the students that we are all lifelong learners. Therefore, I have continued to take classes myself . I try to relate to my students by treating them as real people with ideas, values, and feelings. I feel that if I show them respect they will trust that I value them as a person. I also try to let them have a window into who I am so they can value me as a person as well as their teacher. Everything is a two-way street."
