Lake Ridge Academy offers a 360° admissions evaluation process, where acceptance and prediction to succeed is based on these things:
- A student's academic history.
- Lake Ridge Academy Admission Testing Results.
- Student Interview and Visit.
Once we receive a student's Application for Admission, we will arrange a day for the student to spend meeting peers, observing classes, talking with faculty, and completing our Admission Testing.
Lake Ridge Academy's Admission Testing philosophy is at first, to obtain information on the educational ability or potential of your child. We will administer the 40-minute Otis Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT), which will give us two sets of information:
- Your child's ability level in Quantitative Reasoning and in Verbal Reasoning along with a Total Score.
- The OLSAT scores are tabulated in stanines 1-9, with 9 being the highest.
- The OLSAT is an instrument that is often used in testing the ability of gifted children with above-average intelligence.
- There is no preparation for the OLSAT.
To determine skill levels of your child, we will administer the GRADE-Group Reading Assessment and Diagnostic Evaluation, along with the GMADE - Group Math Assessment and Diagnostic Evaluation. Both tests measure the skill levels your child has achieved at this point in time.
During the Student Visit Day, your child will need to bring a lunch. Juice, milk, and a snack are provided in the Lower and Middle Schools, there are vending machines in the Upper School. Plan to report to the Admissions Office by 8:20 a.m. on your visit day.
