Founded in 1963 as Cleveland's only independent
school on the West Side, Lake Ridge Academy's K-12 co-ed
campus is located on 88 acres in North Ridgeville, Ohio.
Unique to Lake Ridge is a progressive academic curriculum
coupled with a comfortable and individualized learning
environment, which promotes confident young people of integrity
who think critically and creatively while embracing the
joy of lifelong learning. Lake Ridge students represent
8 Ohio counties and 40 communities and enjoy a 25% diversity
mix in our student body, one of the highest in our region.
Curricularly unique is that French, Spanish
and drama are taught in Kindergarten, and beyond our 13 AP
courses, upper school students may take college credit courses
in a partnership with Oberlin College. Lake Ridge students
enjoy SAT scores typically 300 points above the national
average and the Class of 2007, consisting of 40 seniors received
college acceptances to 137 top national institutions receiving
$1.1 million in first year academic scholarships.
Beyond the classroom,
100% of LRA students participate in community service
activities and initiatives,
and our annual Diversity Forum in 2004 hosted former Secretary
of State, Madeleine Albright as our keynote speaker. 70%
of upper school students participate in athletics, and
student extracurricular activities include Humanitarian
Aid Society, Mock Trial, Model UN, Amnesty International,
student publications (newspaper and yearbook), along with
dramatic and musical performance groups.
