What a season it has been for the Girls’ Basketball team! The Lady Royals are the 8th ranked Division IV team in Ohio.
At the Northeast Ohio League Conference Awards the Lake Ridge Academy Royals were crowned League Champions! Senior Monet Saunders was name the Most Valuable Player and seniors Sharday Baines and Sydney Clark earned honorable mention.
After an amazing season the team went on to win the school’s first ever basketball district title and earned great honors. Coach Lisa Medvetz was named coach of the year and Senior Sydney Clark named Division IV Player of the Year. Coach Medvetz excelled in her first year as a head coach and led the Royals to a 19-3 record in the regular season.

Lake Ridge Academy has named Lisa Verhoff-Medvetz as its Girls’ Head Basketball Coach. Athletic Director, Debby Ghezzi, made the official announcement stating, “We are thrilled to have a west side icon with such great playing and coaching experience join the Lake Ridge Academy community. Her experience as a player and coach will not only help our students at this level, but will provide them with direction needed to succeed in college.” In addition, Coach Medvetz will be teaching kindergarten through grade 12 physical education classes.
A native of Elyria, Ohio, Coach Medvetz was a standout player at Elyria High School. She went to Indiana State University on a full ride athletic scholarship, graduating Cum Laude with a sports fitness and exercise physiology degree. “After meeting with students and teachers on Lake Ridge Academy’s campus I knew this was the school to develop my own program at. I look forward to helping create a tradition of success.”
