Dr. Mark Lawlor Gives Clinic to Lake Ridge Academy Choir

Dr. Mark Lawlor, Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Oklahoma State University, recently gave a masterclass to the Lake Ridge Academy choir. During the class, Dr. Lawlor worked on developing a full choral tone by way of enhanced breath support. He also gave some information on the physiology of the voice and how it functions. He worked on some of the repertoire to be performed at our March 18th concert, using it as the vehicle by which to demonstrate the techniques he discussed.

Dr. Lawlor has previously held positions at Idaho State University, Arizona State University and the United States Military Academy at West Point to name a few. He has also prepared choirs to sing for several US presidents and The Bob Hope Show. Dr. Lawlor will be conducting at Carnegie Hall in March 2010.

He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Westminister Choir College, Master of Music from Florida State University and Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University.
