Model UN participants of Lake Ridge Academy
In Model UN, students step into the shoes of
ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the
organization's agenda. Students make speeches, prepare draft resolutions,
negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the
conference rules of procedure - all in the interest of mobilizing
"international cooperation" to resolve problems that affect countries
all over the world.
In the 8 committees, four Lake Ridge Academy students won the gavel for best
delegate. Each committee gives four awards - two Honorable Mentions, 1 -
Excellent Delegation and 1 - Superior Delegation for a total of 32. As
the list below indicates, we received 15 awards and maintained our firm control
of dominating the Lorain County Model United Nations Conference.
