The 7th Annual 15-minute Play Festival goes international with plays from Canada and England as well as throughout the US.
April 17 – April 28 at The Studio, 145 West 46th Street, NYC.

Chosen from more than 350 entries, the 33 semi-finalist plays in this year’s 7th Annual 15-Minute Play Festival include original one-acts by playwrights from Toronto, Canada and London, England as well as eleven states throughout the USA. This is the first time that plays from outside the United States have been chosen to compete in the festival.

Produced by Turnip Theatre Company in association with American Globe Theatre, the annual festival runs April 17-28 and showcases the work of some our most exciting new playwrights as well as 33 directors and 74 actors and actresses.

Four to five different semi-finalist plays are presented each of the festival’s first eight evening’s (April 17-24) and the audience is balloted to select the best play each night. In addition, the festival producers choose two plays as “producer’s choice” to include in the finals. Selected plays move on to the finals and three additional performances (April 26-28) where a panel of judges chooses winners in three categories: Best Play, Best Direction and Best Performance and the audience votes for overall Audience Favorites. Finalists are also eligible for the Alan Minieri Playwriting Award named after Turnip Theatre Company’s late Artistic Director.

This year’s playwrights include: Frank Basloe (NYC), Ross Berger (NYC), Michael Bettencourt (MA), Andrew Biss (Los Angeles, CA), Kassie Bracken (NYC), David Caudle (NYC), Philip Cioffari (NJ), Don Cummings (Los Angeles, CA), Franco D’Alessandro (NYC), Steve Danziger (NJ), Linda Delmonico-Prussen (Merrick, NY), Mark Glinski (Chicago, IL), Jonathan A. Goldberg (NYC), Lauren Gunderson (Atlanta, GA), Charles Hall (Toronto, CA), Christy Hutchcraft (NYC), Teresa Lee Jenkins (OH), Richard Keller (Ithaca, NY), Greg Kotis (NYC), Seth Kramer (NYC), Josh Lacey (London, England), Mark Lambeck (CT), Tom Lavignino (Los Angeles,CA), Josh Liveright (NYC), Ignacio Lopez (NYC), Ian McCulloch (NYC), Peter Morris (White Plains, NY), Craig Posipil (NYC), Jan Radcliff (MI), C. Rusch (SC), Dennis Schebetta (NYC), Aoise Stratford (Berkeley, CA), Jay Williams (VA).

Cast sizes range from two to seven and include both relatively new and veteran actors. One of the plays “Tea for Two” by Virginia playwright Jay Williams features Yale Drama School graduate Stanley Harrison who most recently appeared as Polonius in “Hamlet” at American Globe Theatre and Drew Eshelman who played Thernardier in “Les Miserables” on Broadway and in the National Tour.

Semi-finals run Tuesday April 17 – Tuesday April 24 at 8pm. Finalists perform in two series: Thursday and Friday, April 26 & 27 Series A at 7pm and Series B at 9pm and Saturday April 28 Series A at 5pm and Series B at 8pm. All performances are at The Studio, 145 W. 46th St. 3rd Floor, near 7th avenue in the heart of New York’s Times Square.
