Hansen leads CMU off the bench

Former Lake Ridge Academy and Lorain County basketball standout Alex Hansen got her first significant playing time last Sunday in an impressive performance off the bench for Carnegie Mellon University. The former two-time Lorain County Player of the Year led the Tartans with 14 points in a 70-58 loss to Notre Dame College.

Playing 33 minutes for the contest, Hansen scored eight of her 14 points in the second quarter. Hansen connected on five of her shots from the field and was 4-of-6 from the free throw line. The game was part of the Olivet (MI) Comet Classic.

Hansen also added two assists, three rebounds, one steal and just two turnovers. Carnegie Mellon plays University Athletic Association opponent University of Rochester Saturday in Pittsburgh for the league opener.

Hansen will return to Northeast Ohio when CMU plays at Oberlin on Jan. 19 and at Case Western University on Feb. 1.
