Entrepreneurial Studies

The Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is unique among secondary schools, and involves students in a new way of doing and seeing things. The intent is to tap into the entrepreneurial spirit that lives in all of us and prepare students for the global market through classes that encourage creative and global thinking.

This two-year honors curriculum accommodates up to 40 Upper School students a year and augments the coursework required for graduation with an extensive exploration of the principles of entrepreneurship. Students who successfully complete the program receive documentation on their transcript and a certificate of completion.

Opportunities for students include being mentored by alumni in the business community, the chance to create real-life business ventures with the guidance of faculty, and the ability to work in partnership with Lorain Community College, which has its own entrepreneurial studies program.

In addition, the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies sponsors regular conferences that are open to area high school students and teachers, and to the public.

To participate in the program, applicants must meet the admission criteria for acceptance to Lake Ridge Academy, which includes completion of Lake Ridge Academy admission application materials, admission testing, and complete academic records. The student must provide the names of two teachers who can provide a recommendation for the candidate. The candidate must also write a personal essay that addresses why the student wants to be in the program, what the student offers the program, and what the student hopes to accomplish. To begin the application process, contact Alexa Hansen, ext. 103.
