Computer Technology
Lake Ridge offers a 2:1 student to computer
ratio. In addition to the three student labs on campus, our technology
is integrated into our learning environments. The main floor of
the Community Resource Center houses our K-12 Founders' Library,
with twenty Dell workstations for quiet study and research
 |
Ten wireless laptops are available for
student use in the library as well.
Additionally, our Foreign Language Department of five classrooms
shares a Lab-On-A-Cart, with twenty wireless laptop computers
that can be easily moved from classroom to classroom. |
ADDITIONAL TECHNOLOGY FACTS:
- Throughout the rest of the school, new generation computers
can be found in groups of two to four workstations in nearly
every
classroom.
- The Upper School Environmental Studies Lab has twelve
Palm Pilots with science probe capabilities.
- The Videography Lab houses editing facilities and a video classroom
that can be used as a production studio. Upper, Middle, and
Lower School students write, shoot, and edit their own productions
using
a Digital 8 or SVHS format. The Upper School students edit
on the very advanced and sophisticated Avid Xpress DV software,
while the Middle School students use Avid Cinema software to
create their video projects.
- The school network is delivered by a cluster of six Dell servers
over fiber and high bandwidth copper backbone, plus three wide
area wireless zones.
- Lake
Ridge recognizes a responsibility to offer a curriculum that
supports the various and diverse curriculum areas in an interdisciplinary
approach to teaching and learning. As the long-range plan for
technology continues to evolve over time, the curriculum will
also change and expand to take advantage of new resources.
