March 14 Announcement
Message for International Students
I am writing to you today to let you know that if you return to your home country out of concerns surrounding COVID-19, Lake Ridge Academy will provide you distance learning instructions that will, at a minimum, allow you to finish your current required classes on a pass/fail basis. This means if you are a senior, you will be able to graduate from Lake Ridge Academy on schedule, and if you are a younger student, you can finish this year successfully and return to Lake Ridge next year in good standing. In either case, you will need to have access to technology that allows us to reliably communicate with you. There will be work for you to complete on a remote basis, and you must complete that work satisfactorily in order to pass your current classes and if you are a senior, to graduate.
In order to take advantage of this opportunity, please notify your U.S. agent (if you have one) and Mrs. Lacoste of your plans as soon as possible. Please be in touch with us so we know your plans and can communicate with you. If you won’t have access to your Lake Ridge email while you are at home, please share an email you will be checking at least daily with us so we know how to send you work and other materials. If you return to your home country, your Lake Ridge teachers will be in touch with you via email the week of March 30, 2020, after spring break is over. You will be required to check your email daily, and complete work as assigned.
For those of you planning to return to Lake Ridge, whether it is this year for graduation or next year to continue your studies, we will follow the CDC guidance on re-entry requirements, including any then-current quarantine requirements.
Please note we are not requiring anyone to return to their home country; if you choose to stay in the U.S. we are prepared to support you in any way we can, and we would welcome the chance to have you continue with us in the U.S.
We made this decision based on our concern for you as a valued member of our school community. The COVID threat has created a lot of anxiety and uncertainty for all of us, and I am sure it is even more difficult for you, who are so far from home.
There are still many unknowns in this situation, but I want to assure you that however events unfold, you are an important part of Lake Ridge, and we want to make sure our seniors graduate on time and all our students have the opportunity to finish out the year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me or Mrs. Lacoste.
