Four Royals performed at the All-Ohio event, with Ren Gleason’22 being cast as the lead male role of Bruce, Cole Stellato’23 as Bobby Jeremy who has a featured number, Jacob Robertson’24 playing the cello in the pit orchestra, and Natalie McMahon’23 performed the solo song “I’m Not Waiting” after advancing in the Thespys competition. These students were selected after participating in productions at Lake Ridge, which are directed by 9th grade Dean of Students and Director of Theater Kristy Rodriguez, who also serves as a Coordinator for All-Ohio.

When asked what he was most looking forward to in regards to the production, Ren Gleason’22 said “Even though I had my last show at Lake Ridge, it’s cool to have this be my last show in high school. To work on such a topic, you wouldn’t be able to do this at any high school, that’s what makes it really interesting. To touch on these themes as a young performer and talk about them is really an amazing experience.” At the end of the All-Ohio event, the Lake Ridge Academy Thespian Troupe was awarded Gold Status, the highest honor. in recognition of their work in theater production and outreach.
