For many young athletes, playing sports in college is a dream that requires countless hours of preparation, practice, and off-season training. This past Thursday, April 15, those dreams turned into realities for three Lake Ridge Academy students.

Lake Ridge's Signing Day is a traditional event to celebrate the accomplishments of athletes who have made their commitments to play their given sports at the next level. This year, seniors Kate Kastelic, Kaili Klimas, and Emma Miller stood at the podium and to announce where they would be continuing their academic and athletic journeys. Kastelic, a standout softball player and LRA lifer, will play for Chattanooga State. Klimas, also an LRA lifer and a top-liner on her Gilmore Academy hockey team, will head to Alvernia University. And Miller, who is a force on both the soccer field and in field events, will play women's soccer and throw at Allegheny College.

Signing Day is a special day not only for the athletes and their families but for their coaches. This year, the celebration welcomed Coach Beck (T3 Sports) who praised Kate's work ethic, Coach Kelly (Gilmour Academy) who told of Kaili's upbeat attitude regardless of the outcome of games, and Coach Thomas (Elyria) and Coach Wright (LRA) who both highlighted on Emma's pure athletic and leadership abilities.

Congratulations to all three ladies on their commitments to play next year. The Lake Ridge community knows you'll continue to do great things on your new adventure. Once a Royal, always a Royal!
