College Counseling

Choosing a college is about finding the right mix of academics, activities, location, resources, and faculty. The process of finding that "right fit" begins in 6th grade when Lake Ridge Academy's Director of College Counseling meets with Middle School families to outline the journey ahead. Students are first introduced to the college admission process at the beginning of the their 9th grade year.

In 11th grade, the Director of College Counseling meets with each student and his or her parents to outline an individualized plan to find the college or university that best suits each student's talents, academic strengths and needs. During the senior year, all seniors attend Senior Seminar, which is a class led by the Director of College Counseling who helps guide the senior class through the college process. The Director of College Counseling also works individually with every senior on his or her college application. To that end, seniors are provided with a wide array of resources that includes campus visits by college admission representatives, ready access to catalogs and view books, guides to every aspect of the admission process, and dozens of scholarship and financial aid guidebooks.
