Strings Instructor for Grades 5-12 (PT)

Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a part-time 5-12 Strings instructor for the 2025-2026 school year. As a member of the LRA Fine Arts Department, the instructor will be responsible for teaching string education to students from beginner to high school levels, as well as leading ensembles. This includes mounting public concerts in collaboration with the department and various divisions. The ideal candidate will have a background in string education, with experience in both classroom teaching and conducting. In addition to knowledge and experience related to string pedagogy, applicants who have experience teaching in the areas of Music Theory and Music History will be given special consideration. Experience teaching in an independent school environment is also a plus.
Job Duties:
  • Teach beginner-level strings in grade 5
  • Teach Middle School orchestra classes (6 and 7/8 )
  • Teach Upper School Orchestra
  • Meet students for individual help outside of class
  • Participate in faculty committees and meetings (time permitting)
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned, including student monitoring in study hall or chaperone capacities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in music or music education, strings emphasis preferred
  • Evidence of successful experiences teaching all levels of strings students
  • A love of working with students, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative and close-knit teaching environment
Salary is commensurate with other independent schools in the Midwest.
