Open Positions

Middle and Upper School French Teacher

Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a full-time Upper School and Middle School French teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. As a member of the World Language Department, the teacher will be responsible for teaching a variety of levels of French, from novice/Level 1 up to and potentially including AP French; therefore, candidates must be comfortable designing developmentally-appropriate lessons for students in grades 6-12. We welcome culturally literate applicants who have lived abroad or are very well-traveled, and who have a passion for the French language and francophone cultures. Candidates should have native or near-native fluency and a strong commitment to and love for working with students. Excellent communication skills and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative and close-knit teaching environment are a must. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience implementing a Comprehensible Input-based curriculum into their classes. In addition to teaching their classes, the teacher will be assigned other duties as determined by the Directors of the Upper and Middle Schools. The teacher can expect to share in the sponsorship of student activities, be available to students for individual help outside of class as needed, participate in faculty committees and meetings, serve as a mentor to a group of 8-10 students ranging from grades 9-12, and lead (or co-lead) the annual 8th grade class trip to Quebec. Salary is commensurate with other independent schools in the Midwest and benefits include a generous tuition remission package.

Math Teacher - Pre-Algebra and Geometry

Lake Ridge Academy, an independent K-12 college preparatory school, is seeking a full-time Math teacher with the ability to teach Pre-Algebra through PreCalculus beginning in the 2020-2021 school year.

A love for working with students, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative and close-knit teaching environment are a must. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience using the CPM math curriculum and student-centered instructional techniques as well as an ability to teach AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics.

In addition to teaching their classes, the instructor will be available to students for individual help outside of class as needed, share in the sponsorship of student activities, participate in faculty committees and meetings, serve as an advisor to a group of approximately 10 middle school students, and other duties as determined by the Director of the Middle School. Salary is commensurate with other independent schools in the Midwest and benefits include a generous tuition remission package.

Assistant Director of Alumi Relations and Annual Giving

The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving oversees of the Annual Fund and a robust alumni reunion program in support of goals to reconnect alumni to the school, encourage increased giving, and identify volunteer and donor leadership. As one of three Alumni Relations and Development team members, the candidate can expect to assist with other non-reunion projects on a regular basis that may include event planning, event staffing, direct mail appeals, gift processing and other development work.

The position requires a sophisticated and comprehensive understanding of event planning, volunteer and donor management, annual giving best practices, and major gift principles resulting from 2-3 years or more of related experience preferably in education. The candidate must demonstrate high degrees of professionalism, integrity, self-motivation, collegiality and organization. Strong communication skills, including strong listening skills, are essential. Experience working with a Customer Relationship Database (CRM) such as Raiser’s Edge, Salsa, etc., Microsoft Office products (especially Excel and Word), Google (G Suite) collaboration tools, Adobe Creative suite is required.

Part Time Physical Education Teacher

Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a part-time Physical Education teaching aide for the 2020-2021 school year. As a member of the physical education department, the aide will be responsible for assisting in the teaching of various PE classes for students from grade Kindergarten through 8th grade. He or she will work from 8:30 through 12:30 five days a week. He or she will also have other responsibilities including lunch and recess duties.

Candidates should demonstrate evidence of successful experience working with lower school and middle school students, ideally in a PE, gym, or coaching environment. A love for working with students, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative and close-knit teaching environment are a must. Special consideration will be given to candidates who hold a four-year degree in physical education or a related field, and to candidates who are interested, qualified and willing to coach a middle school sport for an additional stipend.

Accounting Manager - Part Time

The Accounting Manager focuses on the generation, preparation, and communication of information that is complete and accurate to support effective decision making, management, internal controls, and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager is responsible for completing general accounting and reporting activities. The individual has direct responsibility for maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, and posting to the general ledger, bank reconciliation, investment reconciliations, fixed asset recordkeeping, and producing various accounting and financial reports. The Accounting Manager's responsibilities reflect varying levels of capabilities and are expected to evolve as individuals acquire relevant experience and demonstrate greater accountability. He or she relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and works under general supervision. Expert interpersonal skills are required while working with coworkers, current and prospective parents, most importantly as it relates to collections. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Anticipated hours are approximately 20 hours per week, depending on season and time of monthly close.

Custodial and Cleaning Worker – Part Time Night Shift

A Custodial/Cleaning Worker reports directly to the Cleaning Supervisor and is responsible for performing a wide variety of custodial and cleaning duties in order to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment. The skills and knowledge required for this would generally be obtained with previous experience in building cleaning and custodial work. The employee performs regular cleaning of campus facilities and responds to emergency calls for service; implements setup and takedown for a wide variety of campus and community events; works closely with employees and the public to meet the custodial needs of the area; and resolves problems to ensure efficient and safe operations. This is a part time non-exempt position with typical hours between 6:00pm – 11:00pm Monday through Friday.

Job requirements include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of one year of experience in custodial and cleaning work.
