Beginning in kindergarten, Lake Ridge Academy will provide your child an exceptional college preparatory curriculum that equips them with the skills necessary for success in college and life beyond the classroom.
We believe that children are active learners who construct knowledge through physical, social, and cultural experiences. Learning is a complex and interactive process and every child has a unique rate of development. Our faculty facilitates the growth of our students by employing a broad range of instructional strategies and materials. At Lake Ridge Academy, we create a child-centered environment that honors students' interests, prior experiences, and individual needs.

The Lake Ridge Academy kindergarten provides a supportive learning environment where children are intellectually stimulated, emotionally supported, socially involved, and physically engaged.
The Hallmarks of a Lake Ridge Academy education:
Authentic and active learning that involves academic choice: we know the best learning comes when there is an authentic purpose, involves the mind and the body, and is stimulated by curiosity.
We teach to the child - not to the test:
Our curriculum is responsive and constantly evolving to not only meet the needs of our students, but to guide them as they move toward their own future.
The social curriculum is as important as the academic curriculum:
Kindergarteners learn how to work and play cooperatively, effectively socialize, determine right and wrong for themselves and develop a self-discipline and resiliency that allows them to thrive.
Activities such as our Manners Lunches encourage our kindergarteners to develop table skills, self-help abilities, and to conduct appropriate conversations while at a meal.
Community Service is a way of life - not a requirement:
Our kindergarteners learn to develop empathy for others by first understanding their responsibility to care for living things.
The kinesthetic study of French and Spanish begins in kindergarten, guiding students to learn to express themselves confidently and with ease. Children study both oral and written communication while they develop a love of language learning and pride in their developing second language skills.
Children are provided learning opportunities in which they cultivate a sense of wonder, respect and appreciation for, and a working knowledge base of, the natural environment through direct experiences. We desire for students to understand their environment from a variety of viewpoints - micro, macro, ecological, aesthetic - and to develop a personal and collective commitment to being good stewards of the earth.
Our program supports children as they develop an intrinsic motivation, academic independence, and a respect for others, themselves, and the world around them.
