6-12 3D Art Teacher
Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a full-time Middle and Upper School 3D Visual Arts teacher beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The instructor will be responsible for designing curriculum and assessment strategies in collaboration with the Fine Arts department for grades 6-12. We welcome applicants who have a strong commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community and to ongoing professional development in pedagogy, curriculum development, and subject matter. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of successful experience teaching different methods of hand-building and wheel-throwing skills and should be prepared to speak to the utilization of a variety of materials to create pieces. The position involves teaching across a wide range of experience levels, up to and including the AP level.
A love for working with students, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative and close-knit teaching environment are a must. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience teaching Art History.
Primary Job Functions:
- Teach gr. 6-12 3D art, including Upper School courses in Ceramics and AP Art
- Serve as Middle School Advisor: act as an advisor to a group of approximately 10 Middle School students
- Offer individualized help outside of class: be available to offer help to students during mutual free times
- Participate in Student Life
- Collaborate with Colleagues: participate in faculty meetings, school committees, and professional development, and engage with the members of the Fine Arts Department
Minimum Requirements:
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Education and/or Fine Art
