Varsity Head Soccer Coach (Co-ed)

The Varsity Head Soccer Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing all aspects of a coed high school soccer program. This includes fostering student-athlete growth, building a competitive team culture, and promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and character both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership
  • Plan, organize, and administer all levels of the soccer program (varsity and alignment with sub-varsity if applicable)
  • Develop a clear program philosophy and style of play
  • Build a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture
 
Coaching & Player Development
  • Design and implement effective practice plans focused on skill development, tactics, and conditioning
  • Teach fundamental and advanced soccer techniques
  • Provide individualized feedback and development plans for players
  • Promote leadership, accountability, and teamwork among student-athletes
 
Game Management
  • Prepare team strategies and game plans
  • Make in-game decisions and adjustments
  • Ensure proper supervision and sportsmanship during contests
 
Student-Athlete Support
  • Monitor academic progress and encourage academic success
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes
  • Promote character, integrity, and respect
 
 
Administrative
  • Coordinate schedules, practices, and transportation with the athletic department
  • Manage equipment, uniforms, and inventory
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, administration, and staff
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and league/state regulations
 
Staff & Community Engagement
  • Supervise and support assistant coaches
  • Engage with families and the school community to promote the program
  • Assist with offseason development opportunities (camps, conditioning, open fields)
 
Qualifications
Required:
  • Previous soccer coaching experience (high school or higher preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, strategy, and player development
  • Ability to coach and manage a coed team effectively and inclusively
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to education-based athletics and student development
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must meet all school, state, and background check requirements
Preferred:
  • Collegiate playing or coaching experience
  • Experience building or leading a soccer program
  • Familiarity with strength and conditioning principles
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
 
Salary is commensurate with other independent schools in the Midwest.
