Head Middle School Girls Volleyball Coach
Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a Head Middle School Volleyball Coach for the 2026/2027 school year.
The Head Middle School Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and educational volleyball program that aligns with Lake Ridge Academy’s mission. This role focuses on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and preparing student-athletes for progression into the upper school program.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead all middle school volleyball practices and competitions
- Develop age-appropriate training plans focused on fundamentals and game understanding
- Establish a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture
Coaching & Player Development
- Teach fundamental volleyball skills (serving, passing, setting, hitting, defense)
- Emphasize teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship
- Provide individualized feedback to support athlete growth
Game & Practice Management
- Create structured practice plans with clear objectives
- Manage game strategy, lineups, and in-game adjustments
- Ensure proper supervision of student-athletes at all times
Program Alignment
- Collaborate with varsity and junior varsity coaches to align terminology, systems, and expectations
- Support long-term athlete development within the Lake Ridge Academy volleyball program
Communication
- Maintain clear and timely communication with players, parents, and athletic department staff
- Share schedules, expectations, and updates throughout the season
Administrative Duties
- Assist with team roster management and attendance tracking
- Coordinate equipment needs and uniform distribution
- Follow all school and athletic department policies and procedures
Student-Athlete Development
- Serve as a positive role model consistent with Lake Ridge Academy values
- Promote academic accountability and character development
- Encourage multi-sport participation and overall student wellness
Qualifications
- Prior volleyball coaching or playing experience (middle school or higher preferred)
- Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals and teaching progression
- Ability to effectively communicate with middle school-aged students
- Positive leadership style with emphasis on development and inclusion
- Organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a school setting
- Experience building or contributing to a feeder program
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Time Commitment
- Daily practices during the season (typically 2:45-4:00/4:30pm)
- Matches (home and away)
- Occasional meetings, preseason planning, and postseason wrap-up
Salary is commensurate with other independent schools in the Midwest.
