Head JV Girls Volleyball Coach / Assistant Varsity
Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a passionate, organized, and student-centered Head Junior Varsity / Assistant Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach for the 2026/2027 school year to support and advance the girls' volleyball program. This role is responsible for leading the Junior Varsity team while assisting with the Varsity program, ensuring alignment in philosophy, skill development, and culture across all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Leadership (JV Head Coach)
- Plan and conduct all Junior Varsity practices, competitions, and team meetings
- Develop players’ fundamental skills, game knowledge, and physical conditioning
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture
- Manage game lineups, substitutions, and in-game coaching decisions
- Communicate effectively with players, families, and athletic administration
Varsity Program Support (Assistant Coach)
- Assist the Varsity Head Coach with practice planning and execution
- Support scouting, film breakdown, and opponent preparation
- Provide in-game coaching support (bench management, positional coaching, etc.)
- Help implement varsity systems, terminology, and strategies at the JV level
Program Development
- Ensure consistency between JV and Varsity systems, drills, and expectations
- Identify and develop talent for progression into the varsity program
- Assist with offseason workouts, open gyms, and skill development opportunities
Administrative Duties
- Monitor academic progress and promote student-athlete accountability
- Maintain equipment, uniforms, and inventory
- Follow all school, conference, and state athletic regulations
- Assist with team events, team travel, and program communication
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous volleyball coaching or competitive playing experience
- Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, systems, and strategy
- Ability to teach and connect with high school student-athletes
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Commitment to the mission and values of Lake Ridge Academy
Preferred:
- Prior high school or club coaching experience
- Experience with video analysis and scouting tools
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Season & Time Commitment
- Fall season (preseason through postseason)
- Daily practices and matches (including evenings and occasional weekends)
- Offseason involvement encouraged but not required
Salary is commensurate with other independent schools in the Midwest.
