Upper School Math Teacher

Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a full-time Upper School Mathematics Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in curriculum design and knowledge of the latest trends in pedagogy and assessment methods. The best candidates are those who embrace a healthy combination of joy and rigor in the classroom, love working with and supporting students, and model lifelong learning.


Primary Job Functions:
  • Teach a Variety of Courses: Including Algebra 2,  Honors Algebra 2, Honors Precalc BC, and AP Calc AB.
  • Facilitate Hands-On Learning: Provide engaging and interactive classroom experiences, including hands-on activities and problem-solving exercises that reinforce mathematical concepts.
  • Offer Individualized Support: Dedicate time outside of class to meet with students individually, providing guidance, clarification, and additional assistance as needed.
  • Serve as Advisor: Act as an advisor to a cohort of 8-10 Upper School students, offering mentorship and support in both academic and personal growth.
  • Contribute to Extracurricular Life: Enrich the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, such as supporting House events, sponsoring a club, or engaging in other campus initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Participate actively in faculty committees, meetings, and professional development opportunities, contributing your insights and expertise to the school community.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in mathematical principles.
  • Certification: Possess or be qualified and willing to obtain training to teach AP Mathematics courses as well as the College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) curriculum.
  • Commitment to Professional Growth: Show a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, staying abreast of current trends and best practices in mathematics education.
  • Teaching Experience: Have experience teaching mathematics at the Upper School level, including conducting interactive activities to enhance student learning.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree: Hold a Master’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a relevant discipline, demonstrating a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and teaching methodologies.
  • Teaching Experience: Bring 3-5 years of teaching experience in an Upper School setting, preferably within independent schools, with a proven track record of success as well as experience teaching the College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) curriculum.
  • AP Experience: Demonstrate experience teaching AP Mathematics courses, preparing students for rigorous examinations and academic success.
  • Athletic Engagement: Possess experience and interest in coaching athletics at the Upper School or Middle School level, contributing to the holistic development of students.
