School Nurse
Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a full-time School Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year. LRA’s School Nurse should be grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice, be the leader who bridges health care and education, provides care coordination, advocates for quality student-centered care, and collaborates with the academic leadership team to design efficient health care systems for LRA students from Junior Kindergarten through graduation.
Key Responsibilities
Running a busy and welcoming nurse clinic
Providing first aid care and health assessment for students JK-12 (and for adults on campus as needed)
Writing care plans and coordinating with parents and with staff the care of students with chronic or acute health conditions
Daily monitoring of students with concussions as part of the LRA concussion protocol
Communicating with teachers, staff and families to ensure the safety and well-being of students
Administering medications and monitoring delegated medication administration
Coordinating and providing vision and hearing screenings for all odd-numbered grades each year
Tracking and monitoring parent health forms, reviewing required immunization records
Providing information about health, hygiene, etc. to students and/or to parents as needed
Educating and training staff on: asthma, life-threatening allergies, diabetes, seizure management, bloodborne pathogens, AED usage, CPR, etc.
Providing classroom talks on topics having to do with health, hygiene, etc., per teacher request or as the need arises
Tracking monthly data and creating reports for the Student Services team Director
Preparing health/first aid kits for chaperones of student field trips and overnight trips
Keeping health issue binders for each Division and updating those annually
Keeping AED devices maintained, serviced, and supplies ordered as needed
Ordering supplies for the nurse clinic as needed
Reporting infectious disease occurrence to the LRA community as required
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN): Candidates must hold a current, valid Ohio RN license.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is required.
Completion of a School Nurse educational program approved by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), or willingness to complete one in the first year of employment at LRA is strongly preferred.
Pupil Services License: The approved program leads to the issuance of a Pupil Services License by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), which must be kept up to date.
Salary is commensurate with other independent schools in the Midwest, and benefits may include a generous tuition remission package.
